Our Families
The Haji/Mohamed Family
Fatma Haji-Mohamed and Abukar Mohamed have a daughter, 7, and a son, 3. In March 2009, the family welcomed their third child, a daughter, into the world. They have lived in subsidized housing for over four years. It is a two-bedroom apartment which is now too small for their family. Abukar has worked as a parking attendant manager for that amount of time, and Fatma now has a part-time job as a janitorial service franchisee. They feel their dreams are about to come true as they look forward to a safe neighborhood and a stable home for their children. These Somali-American parents think that applying for a Habitat house is the best decision they have ever made as a family.
