The Nguyen Family

Back to all Family Stories

The Nguyen FamilyHung and his wife, Phi Yen, moved to the United States from Vietnam in 2008 with their son, Trung, to provide a better future for their family. All members of the family work to afford renting the single room that they all share in their landlord’s four-bedroom home. Hung works for a local umbrella manufacturer and Phi Yen is a food processor at a produce company. Trung works at a nail salon and is also attending PCC to become a Radiologist.

The family’s biggest struggle is an appropriate space to live. They dream of being able to afford to move out of their current living situation that is too small for three adults. The family is excited to start accruing their sweat equity and learning the skills that will help them maintain their new home.
