Portland Pride Build
Portland Pride Build is a specialty build that is partnered with Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East. Portland Pride Build embraces Portland’s diversity by bringing together the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and friends to plan and build a healthy and affordable home for a family in need.
Portland Pride Build built it’s first two homes for the Jimenez family at Lents Landing in 2010 and for the Keith family at Rivergate Commons in north Portland in 2011. Their third home was built at Habitat’s SE 171st and Division Street site for the Thang family, part of one of the largest Habitat builds in the state.
“We are proud to bring the GLBT community together in Portland to do something that has long term positive effects,”said Brett Hulstrom, chair of the Portland Pride Build committee. “We love proving that diversity can help better our community and we’re looking forward handing over the keys to the front door to another Habitat family! That really is the best part!”

Pride Build FAQ
Where are the homes located?
Portland Pride Build built its first home in Habitat’s Lents Landing community at southeast 97th and Woodstock for the Jimenez family. The second Portland Pride Build home, for the Keith family, is located at Rivergate Commons off north Lombard in Portland. Portland Pride Build is excited to have recently completed their third home in the Portland Metro area for the Langh/Hau family at SE 171st and Division Street build site.
Who are you building the home for? Are they part of the LGBTQ community?
While some homeowners may not be a part of the LGBTQ community, often families who purchase their home sponsored by the Portland Pride Build participate in specialty build events. Recently, the Keith family showed their appreciation at several Portland Pride Build events including marching in the Pride NW Parade through downtown Portland!
Who can participate in Portland Pride Build?
Anyone and everyone. The mission of Portland Pride Build is to bring the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and friends together in a fun environment to help build homes in partnership with families in need. We hope this build provides an opportunity to better understand diversity while making our community a better place one home at a time.
