Habitat To Open Homeowner Education Center

IMG_7256
In July 2016, Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East will complete work on an office remodel project, making more efficient use of our space, and converting a former garage into a new Homeowner Education Center. With this new space, Habitat plans to provide a meeting space for community members and host homeownership classes, helping homeowners strengthen their financial health and connection to the community.  In the fall, Habitat will be offering classes in healthy cooking and meal planning, negotiating salary increases, and weatherizing homes for the winter.
“Having a designated space to hold classes will allow us to expand the variety and number of homeowner education classes we offer to Habitat homeowners,” said Matina Kauffman, Habitat’s Vice President of Homeownership & Neighborhood Programs. “This expansion will focus on post-purchase education to ensure that our homeowners have the knowledge and support they need to maintain their homes, build financial health, and contribute to the communities where they live.”
The new Homeowner Education Center will be christened with a celebration on July 16th, 2016, with classes to begin in the following weeks. Follow @habitatpdxmetro on social media for announcements of upcoming classes and more Habitat news.
