Seven AmeriCorps Members Start a Year of Service in Support of Habitat

Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East is thrilled to welcome our 2011-2012 AmeriCorps! Our affiliate was incredibly fortunate to have been awarded seven AmeriCorps members that will serve in our Communications, Construction, Homeownership and Volunteer Departments. AmeriCorps members are a vital part of the success of Habitat’s mission and we are exited to have them join us.
Our affiliate is proud to welcome back Thomas Martens for another year as a Construction Crew Leader. James Duckworth hopes to one day be a teacher and is serving as one of our Construction Crew Leaders. Ellen Ginda served at our affiliate last year when her NCCC group made a stop in Portland to build homes. She is returning to Portland this year to serve as a Construction Crew Leader. Will Brechter recently moved from Pennsylvania to serve as a Volunteer Engagement Advocate and hopes to attend The University of Oregon next fall. Joanna Nordness served as an AmeriCorps with Habitat for Humanity in New Orleans and is excited to serve as a Construction Crew Leader in Portland. Leah O’Bryant is graciously serving a second year as an AmeriCorps. This year she will serve as Habitat’s Homeownership Program Assistant. Justin Collinson has nine years of Habitat for Humanity experience and is serving as a Construction Crew Leader.
We are fortunate to have them as part of our team and are honored by their level of dedication to their community.
