“Let us love, not in word or speech, but in truth and action.”

1 John 3:18

Faith Groups

Habitat is a partnership founded on common ground bridging theological differences by putting love into action. Habitat founder Millard Fuller called this concept “The Theology of the Hammer,” explaining that even though we may disagree on all sorts of  things we can all agree on the idea of building homes to eliminate poverty housing and helping those in need. Habitat for Humanity welcomes all people of all faiths to join hands with one another and help build simple, affordable homes for families in need. Help bring hope by transforming lives.

Below is a short video highlighting Rivergate Community Church and Habitat’s Rivergate Commons build site. Rivergate Community Church was selected by American Baptist Home Mission Societies to be featured in this video that was sent to over 6,000 churches across the country as an example of how people of faith are coming together to transform their community.

Thrivent Builds

Thrivent Builds is a national alliance between Habitat for Humanity and Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Through this alliance, Thrivent Financial has contributed $140 million during five years to fund and build thousands of Habitat houses across the country, including its sixth home in the Portland/Metro East area this year. Lutheran congregations and Thrivent Financial members are invited to get involved. Read more.
