Meet the Keith Family
Brian and Anna Keith are committed parents to their two daughters, Amara, 5, and Avryn, 2. Brian is a technical director for a non-profit theatre company, and Anna is a stay-at-home mom. They dream of being able to provide a safe, stable home for their children. Learn more.
Portland Pride Build
Portland Pride Build is a specialty build that is partnered with Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East. Portland Pride Build embraces Portland’s diversity by bringing together the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community and friends to plan and build a healthy and affordable home for a family in need.
Where are the homes located?
Portland Pride Build built its first home in our Lents Landing community at southeast 97th and southeast Woodstock for the Jimenez family. The second Portland Pride Build home, for the Keith family, is located at Rivergate Commons off north Lombard in Portland.
Who are you building the home for? Are they part of the GLBT community?
The second Portland Pride Build home was built in partnership with Brian and Anna Keith. The couple, along with their two daughters, have participated in several Portland Pride Build events including marching in the 2010 Pride NW Parade through downtown Portland!
The selection of families who will purchase homes from Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East is done by the Family Selection committee in a way that does not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, color, age, handicap, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or because all or part of the applicant’s income is derived from public assistance programs. All families selected into Habitat’s program are hardworking, earn an income of approximately $21,900-$43,800 a year, and put in 500 hours of sweat equity on their home and other Habitat projects. They will purchase the home at cost with a 0%- interest mortgage.
Who can participate in Portland Pride Build?
Anyone and everyone. The mission of Portland Pride Build is to bring the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender community and friends together in a fun environment to help build homes in partnership with families in need. We hope this build provides an opportunity to better understand diversity while making our community a better place one home at a time.
