Wells Fargo is donating $60,000 to the Portland/Metro East affiliate, which is building Jubilee Commons on Southeast 197th Avenue between East Burnside and Stark streets.
The money is part of a $190,000 donation to six Oregon and Southwest Washington branches of the non-profit organization that builds affordable housing for needy families.
Habitat for Humanity works with low-income families that don’t qualify for traditional mortgages. Each family volunteers 500 hours of work, or sweat equity, on their home, which the family buys with a zero-interest loan. Loan payments go toward building more homes.
Jubilee Commons is a $3 million project that includes 23 condominium built around a community center. Since the groundbreaking in 2007, 10 of the units have been completed. Five more are under construction as part of Phase III, with another eight planned as the final phase.
In addition to cash, Wells Fargo has donated more than 1,450 hours of volunteer work this year to the six affiliates. More than 210 employees have done everything from raising walls to landscaping.
