World of Hope Campaign Comes to Successful Close as Habitat Looks to the Future

Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East recently completed our A World of Hope: It Starts at Home fundraising campaign, reaching a $12 million dollar goal that has already been put back into the community, acquiring land and building homes for local, hardworking families.

“The support of the community has been overwhelming,” said Steve Messinetti, President and CEO. “So many leaders in our community saw the need to invest in and stabilize neighborhoods that have historically been neglected. These are neighborhoods with high poverty rates, low homeownership rates, and high classroom mobility rates.”

The fundraising goal included Habitat’s annual fund of $3 million, raising the additional $9 million over the annual fund to meet the growing needs of the community.

“We now have land in place to make a real impact in our hardest hit neighborhoods,” said Messinetti. “But we still have a lot of funds to raise and work to do building homes on the purchased land and addressing other needs in these communities.”

Habitat asks the community to join them as they look ahead at aggressive efforts to exponentially increase Habitat’s impact on the issue of poverty in our city.
