Homeownership: Qualify & Apply
Buying a home in partnership with Habitat for Humanity is a unique opportunity. Habitat for Humanity Portland/Metro East develops decent, affordable homes in partnership with qualified homebuyers who help build and then purchase their homes with an affordable mortgage.
Future homeowners need to meet the following criteria in order to qualify for the Habitat for Humanity program:
Must be a United States citizen or permanent legal resident
Must have not owned a house in the past three years
Must be willing to contribute 300 hours of “sweat equity.”
Must have proof of steady income and have satisfactory credit history
Must be within 35-60% of the median Portland area household income
Applicants must have a combined minimum annual gross income of at least $30,000
